Have they given you the season total in writing — not just monthly tuition?

Why it matters:Verbal-only quote is the #1 red flag.

  2. 02

Are competition fees, choreo, uniforms, and travel itemized separately?

Why it matters:"It's all included" usually means it's not.

  3. 03

Can you talk to two current parents — without the coach in the room?

Why it matters:If they're hesitant to put you in touch, that's your answer.

  4. 04

Is there a written refund policy if your kid quits or gets injured?

Why it matters:Some gyms keep 100% no matter what.

  5. 05

Are "optional" privates actually required for competition time?

    Why it matters:Ask alumni directly.

  6. 06

Does the gym have liability insurance + USASF safety credentials posted?

Why it matters:If they can't show you, walk.

  7. 07

Have you seen the actual practice space, not just the lobby?

Why it matters:Lobby Instagram ≠ training environment.

  8. 08

Do older athletes look happy — or stressed?

Why it matters:Walk the floor during a Level 5 practice if you can.

  9. 09

Is there a clear path from current level to next level?

Why it matters:Some gyms keep kids at Level 2 forever to fill teams.

  10. 10

Have they pressured you to commit by a specific date?

Why it matters:Real gyms don't need hard-sell tactics.
